After a number of years of talking and planning, we began preparing the way for construction for two new double cabins for Unit 2 (our unit for the younger girls). It is our hope to build a total of four double cabins, but at present we are constructing two. Construction started the week of September 20, 2009 with the removal of trees and the clearing of ground. We will be running new electrical service, water and sewage for the new cabins in Unit 2. The cabins are being constructed on the side of the hill between old cabins 25 and 26. The ground must be terraced before the actual construction on the cabins can begin. Please check back with us periodically for updates and photos.
We are replacing cabins that existed for more than 50 years and are in desperate need of replacing. Each double cabin has a price tag of $125,000. We also have construction costs for preparing the infrastructure as well. Each cabin will need some basic furnishings such as bunk beds, mattresses, table and chairs and more. If you would like to help make these cabins a reality, you may send your tax deductible donations to the Antiochian Village Camp earmarked New Cabins. Should you have questions, feel free to contact our camp director, Fr Anthony Yazge.
To make room for the new cabins, we had to say goodbye to cabin 25. To see the demolition of cabin 25, click here.
